Light is also at the center of Mack's reliefs, which go beyond the genre's limits in the sense of kinetic spatial art. The artist has been occupied with the important work group, honored in 2015 with the luxurious book"Heinz Mack: Reliefs" by the acclaimed publishing house Hirmer, time and again since 1958. Our object is a good example of the goal that Mack pursued with his reliefs: The aluminum foil, structured with small indentations and heightenings, sets the light into motion, creates dynamic and vibrant reflections of the surroundings, confuses and allures the observer at the same time. The lively structure of our object is shaped like a pyramid which adds particular pithiness and impact to the light relief: The rising triangular form center and guides the observer's eye, in order to make him even more insecure in return.
