August Macke captured the view, presumably through a window, onto farm houses on Tegernsee with the Wallberg mountain in the background in several paintings. The fine contrast between the light-flooded twigsand the farm houses in the center of the composition makes for its particular appeal. August Macke haddeveloped a very own style based on a rich palette of colors suffused with light. Macke contrasted the loosened cluster of houses in the center with the strict silhouetteof the Wallberg. Macke's landscapes are characterized by a calm tranquility that does without any agitated expressive forms. The then prevailing closeness to French painting becomes obvious, increased by a temper, which is deeply rooted in traditionsof German painting.
