Hans Feibusch studied art in Munich and Berlin, then in Italy and Paris, under, for example André Lhote. After he had stayed in Germany for around ten years Feibusch emigrated to London for his Jewish background. From that point on London would be his home. While his works were ostracized by the National Socialists in Germany, for instance in the exhibition “Degenerate Art ", he soon experienced great fame in England as an renowned mural and church painter. This work from 1930 belongs among the artist’s characteristic landscapes. The atmospheric depiction of nature opens the view upon a hilly and rocky ness with rich vegetation, a small bay and a lonely stone house in the background. Besides a large oeuvre of paintings, some sculptures by the artist have also survived. Feibusch died in London in 1998, shortly before his 100\up5 th birthday. Not only numerous obituaries in both renowned English and German newspapers deliver proof of Hans Feibusch‘s fame, but also the fact that many important museums such as the Frankfurt Städel and the London Tate Gallery are in possession of his works.
