Prozession in Ascona. 1928.
Watercolor and gouache on paper, laid on board.
Signed and dated lower right. With title and inscription "Seewald / Ronco" on verso. On laid paper by Fabriano (with watermark). 47 x 65,2 cm (18,5 x 25,6 in), the full sheet.
This work was presumably made during one of Seewald's earlier sojourns to Ronco sopra Ascona.

We are grateful to the Richard and Uli Seewald Foundation, Ascona, for their kind support in cataloging this lot.

PROVENANCE: Private collection Bavaria (in family possession for more than 60 years).

After he had studied architecture at the Munich Technical University, Seewald taught himself painting. Under the impressions gained on his many journeys to southern countries, he made works in an earthen style. Seewals's early period of creation calls reminiscence of New Objectivity. [DB]
