The photographs by the internationally acknowledged Teheran native Shirana Shahbazi are documentations of a commuter across borders of figuration and abstraction. They range from portraits over still lives all the way to photographic documentations of abstract color streams. Figuration is - as it is the case with our still life that is characterized by an extreme close-up and precision - perceived with a unique notion of abstraction. Our eyes wanders across the different color streams and surface structures captured with a microscopic accuracy. A short while ago Shahabazi's versatile photographic œuvre was presented in the solo show "Much like Zero" in the Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland. [JS].
