Catherine Yass was born in London in 1963 and studied at the Slade School of Art and the Goldsmith College as well as in Berlin at the Hochschule der Künste. She is particularly known for her colorful photographs that she often mounts in light boxes. In 2002 Yass was among the nominees for the renowned Turner Prize. [CB].
