PROVENANCE: Private collection Baden-Württemberg, acquired directly from artist.

Fritz Koenig develops a sculpture from the very classic canon. Geometrical forms such as pillars and spheres come instead of organic forms and add a momentum of alienation to the actually rather conventional world of forms of his plastics. The optical effect of this work is also determined by a fragile-static principle. A voluminous form raises from a very narrow base, despite the forces of gravity. His examination of the balances of power creates tension and dynamic, which add yet another aspect of optic presence to the sculpture. [DB]
