EXHIBITION: Art prize of the city of Darmstadt 1975 - Michael Schoenholtz. Plastik, Zeichnung, Graphik, Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt, 20 March - 1 May, 1977/Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Museum, Duisburg, 19 July - 4 September, 1977, no. 132, illu. p. 92.

His sculptures illustrate the fragility of existence. The preferred material is marble, surface treatment creates a soft and milky ground. In doing so Michael Schoenholtz, who has been professor at the 'Hochschule für bildende Künste' in Berlin since 1971 and since 1975 professor for sculpting, rediscovered and revived a traditional material that was rather unpopular in his days.

Besides numerous group exhibitions, it is particularly his solo shows in, among others, the Kunsthalle Mannheim in 1973, the Museum Ulm in 1974 and the Mathildenhöhe Darmstatt in 1975 that are worthwhile mentioning. His works are in possession of Kunsthalle Recklinghausen, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, the Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Museum Duisburg, the Kunsthalle Mannheim and the Museum Ulm. [EH].
