The early period of Hans Nagel’s artistic career is marked by painting and drawing classes with the painter Will Sohl. Nagel was drafted in 1943, right after the war, however, he continued his education at the Art Academy in Munich, but soon decided to follow an autodidactic path. As of 1948 he began participating in group exhibition. He had his first one-man show in the Graphisches Kabinett Dr. Hanna Grisebach, Heidelberg, in 1952. In 1958 Nagel began lecturing at the Werkschule Mannheim, followed by teaching assignments at the art schools in Hamburg and Mainz. [EH].
