This feather drawing, just as other drawings, was presumably made for E.T. Compton's illustrations for L. Purtschellers' publication "Zur Entwicklungsgeschichte des Alpinismus und der alpinen Technik", which was released in the magazine of the German and Asutrian Alpine Association in 1894. [CM].
