Signed lower right. On firm Japon. 35,2 : 50,1 cm (13,8 : 19,7 in), the full sheet. Otto Lange studied at the School for Applied Arts and the Academy in Dresden with Otto Gußmann. After teaching for some time at the School for Applied Arts in Bromberg and first one-man-shows, he belonged to the founding members of the "Dresden Secession Group 1919". His style followed that of the expressionist Brücke artists Schmidt-Rottluff, Kirchner and Heckel. This watercolour was made on one of his numerous trips, that led the artist, among others, to Dalmatia in 1925. [AS]
