Innenansicht eines Hofes. Wohl nach 1682.
Oil on canvas, mackled.
With barely legible remains of a signature in lower right. 45 : 61 cm (17,7 : 24 in). The Flemish genre and still life painter Jan van Buken returns to his home town of Antwerp after a several year lasting stay in Rome in the early 1680s, and increasingly turns to a Dutch repertoire of forms and themes. This painting shows a so-called "binnenhuisje", a Flemish courtyard, with a group of people pursuing their daily routines. [RS]
EXPERTISE: We would like to thank Dr. Ulrike Middendorf, Münster, for her expert advice
PROVENIENZ: Private collection South Germany

With slight craquelé, somewhat stronger in places. Edges minimally rubbed in places, due to the framing. With minor trace of rubbing to the right half. Upper left corner with small bulge. "Ausblick" retouched in upper left.
