Provoking – Elegant - Dynamic

ABSTRACTION – From Albers to Zero
Berlin, 18 September, 2012 (kk) – Ketterer Kunst in Berlin-Charlottenburg will show multifaceted works by internationally acknowledged artists of abstraction from 25 September to 7 November. Their art is provocative, elegant and dynamic.

Based on the developments to abstraction in the early 20th century, various tendencies and positions of abstract art emerged. With Josef Albers and Willi Baumeister, two innovative artists from the prewar era are represented. Works by Henri Michaux, Karl Otto Goetz and Hans Hartung illustrate the diversification of the development in the 1950s. The artists of ZERO, on contrary, set a new course in the examination of light and motion. While Rupprecht Geiger, a representative of the group ZEN, celebrates beauty and the power of colors in his art, Bernhard Schultze's "Migof-Kulissen-Landschaft" from the early 1970s refers to the lyrical-abstract tendencies and takes the exhibition to the third dimension.
