Sammlung der Gewächse, die zum Arzney-Gebrauch in den Apothecken aufbehalten werden ... With a foreword by Chr. J. Trews. 6 centuria in 6 vols. One of the best known botanic works of the 18th century! "This edition is artistically superior to Blackwell's Curious Herbal on which it is only partly based. The first 500 plates by N. F. Eisenberger, were copied from Blackwell's plates but are much more carefully drawn, engraved and coloured, and have alterations and additional material" (De Belder). - Almost complete copy, however, lacking plate 560. - Each copper with Latin and German descriptions inthe center of the plate, some have additional descriptions in Latin, some in French, written in former times by several authors. - Stained in places and browned, some damaged caused by damp at the beginning of vols. V and VI, 1 platewith rebacked marginal tear, ca. 10 plates with slightly wiped colouring, few plates in vol. V misbound, 4 book blocks slightly broken. Bindings scraped and scuffed, spine end with defective spots, outer joints slightly torn in places. All in all fine copy of the important herbal.
Almost complete copy of the first Trew-edition of the famous botanical book. 6 engr. color. titles and 614 (of 615) engr. color. plates. Contemp. calf. - Partly stained and browned, vol. V in the beginning and vol. VI stained by damp, ca. 10 plates with wiped colouring, some plates misbound, 4 inner books broken.
