De Belder schreibt zur zweiten Ausgabe: "This is virtually a new work, being a greatly enlarged edition of the Flora Londinensis ... The final two volumes are entirely new, with plates mostly from drawings by Hooker ... together with his own description." - Das bedeutende botanische Werk enthält nicht nur die Beschreibung der Flora von London und seiner Umgebung, sondern von der gesamten Flora Englands. "The book contains some of James Sowerby's first botanical illustrations. Other artists involved were Sydenham Edwards and W. Kilburn. The Flora Londinensis is much more comprehensive in scope than its title suggests for it embraces most of the English flora, as a result of which it should be properly regarded as the first colour-plate national flora of England."
