Each inscribed in lower center. On fire- and tearproof paper, creased. Object box: each 28 x 33 x 6.4 cm (11 x 12.9 x 2.5 in).
From the series Estrujados.

PROVENANCE: Galerie Zink (with label on rear).
Private collection Southern Germany.

In the series "Estrujados" ("The crinkled") Javier Arce refrences masterpieces from the history of art that were reproduced in such large numbers that they have almost become "expendable". The artist draws these works on so-called "indestructible" paper that he then crinkles in order to rediscover the works in the following (source: javierarce.net). In these two drawings he used a sheet from Goya's series "Los Desastres de la Guerra" as well as the sheet that was overpainted and reinterpreted by Jake and Dinos Chapman. [AP]
