Probably no. 1 out of a series of several paintings.

The monochrome fields and stripes on which Förg modelse his works, are brought to life through the traces left behind by the brush. Streaks, layers and transparent parts make the colors vibrate and the observer can trace any point of the process of creation. "When viewing works by Günther Förg the observer gets a good feeling from the first glance on, the feeling of having reached the aim. Maybe the artist shows us quite little, but we can neither overlook nor negate it. At times I get the feeling the brush may simply have dried in on the image carrierafter the making, so that it has to be torn off in last step of creation." (Johannes Gachnang, in: Günther Förg. Ex. cat. Galerie Fahnemann, Berlin 1994, no. p.).
