Presumably Forstbauer/Merkert/Kunisch/Behrens 65.9 (there with different date "um 1965" and illustrated with work number 65.19, there mirror-inverted). Signed and dated lower center. Verso once more signed and dated as well as inscribed "oben" and with two arrows indicating the direction. Verso of adhesive label and on stretcher titled and inscribed "No. 4". 121 x 120,5 cm (47,6 x 47,4 in).
This presumably is the fourth sheet from the work series "Marilyn M", registered in the artist's undated typed list of works. The series is an reminiscence to the painting of the dead film star made two years earlier (cf. Forstbauer/Merkert/Kunisch/Behrens 65.10). [KP].
